Eurojackpot
Eurojackpot (also known as European Jackpot) is a multinational lottery that is drawn twice a week in Finland. With tickets sold in 19 countries, this European jackpot can grow very quickly from its starting value of €10 million. It can even go as high as €120 million. How to Play Eurojackpot
Draws are held every Tuesday and Friday evening in Helsinki, which is early in the morning on Wednesday and Saturday AEST. You can buy tickets from retailers in 19 European countries, or take part online from other locations. Follow the steps below to get involved from Australia:
- Sign up with an online service which offers Eurojackpot
- Select five main numbers from 1 to 50 and two extra Euro numbers from a separate set of 1 to 12
- Pick another set of numbers if you want to boost your chances of winning
- Choose how many draws to enter. You might want to play just the next game or enter multiple consecutive draws
- Purchase your entries and wait for the draw
Once the draw has taken place, you can check the numbers by going to the Eurojackpot Results page or logging on to your online account. You will be alerted straight away if you’re a winner.
How to Win
To win the jackpot, you need all seven of your numbers to be the same as the winning Eurojackpot numbers. The same number can appear more than once in a single draw - once as a main ball and once as a Euro number.
There are 12 ways to win prizes in total, so you can also receive a payout if you match fewer than all seven numbers. The table below shows all the different prize divisions, along with the odds of winning in each one and the percentage of the prize fund it receives.

The jackpot has a minimum value of €10 million and it carries over to the next draw if there are no winners. It can keep getting higher until it reaches its jackpot cap of €120 million. At this point, special rules come into effect which add even more excitement.
The jackpot stays at €120 million until there is at least one player who matches all the numbers. In the meantime, any funds that would usually be added to the top prize are instead allocated to Division 2, building up a multimillion-Euro pot for those players who match five main numbers and one Euro number. Division 2 also has the potential to reach €90 million. This makes it possible to win, or share, an eight-figure prize without even matching all the numbers.
About Eurojackpot
Eurojackpot was launched in March 2012 with seven participating countries, after a number of European National Lotteries noticed how successful EuroMillions had been in creating big jackpots. More and more countries have joined over the years, while online services have also made it possible to take part from other locations around the world.
Multiple players won €90 million while this was the maximum jackpot you could win. It first happened in May 2015, when a single ticket holder from the Czech Republic snapped up the full amount.
The jackpot cap was bumped up to €120 million in March 2022 as part of several changes made to the game. A Tuesday draw was added at the same time, while two extra Euro numbers were added to the ball pool so that players had to pick from a range of 1 to 12 (previously 1 to 10). A €120 million jackpot was won for the first time in July 2022, when a Danish player landed the full amount.
