    How to Play Keno

To play Keno, the first decision you need to make is how many numbers to choose, which can be anywhere from 1 to 10. This is also referred to as a Spot, so a Spot 10 entry means a selection of ten numbers, a Spot 9 entry has a selection of nine numbers, and so on.

You must choose your numbers from a range of 1 to 80. The goal of the game is to match as many of your selections as possible to the winning numbers drawn. In each draw, there are 20 winning numbers.

You have to be located in South Australia to play Keno, as this is currently the only lottery provider to offer the game. Sales close 10 seconds before the next draw so you just need to get your entries in on time.

Go to the Find Your Nearest Store page to locate retailers where you live.

    How to Win Keno

You win Keno prizes by matching the numbers you pick to the winning numbers drawn, but there are extra factors which also determine the value of your payout:

    • How many numbers you pick
    • How many of those numbers match the winning numbers
    • The amount you pay to enter (between $1 and $100)

The following table shows a prize table based on a $1 wager. The jackpot increases from one draw to the next if there are no winners.

    Keno Coin Toss

You can also choose to take part in the associated ‘Keno Coin Toss’ game. This is a side bet that the 20 numbers drawn will be mostly Heads (in the range 1 to 40), mostly Tails (in the range 41 to 80) or Even (10 numbers Heads and 10 numbers Tails). A correct bet on Heads or Tails (the odds of which are 1 in 2.5) doubles your stake, so you would win $2 for a $1 wager. If you correctly bet on Evens (odds of 1 in 5), your stake will be quadrupled.
