Oz Lotto Dividends and Odds

Oz Lotto offers some of the biggest prizes in Australia, with a Division 1 prize that has previously exceeded $100 million. Take a look at all the dividends that Oz Lotto offers, as well as the odds of winning and the different winning combinations.

The payouts in Oz Lotto are not fixed amounts. Instead each division receives a certain percentage of the overall prize fund to pay out winners. You can see how the money is split in the following table.

At least 55% of the money from ticket sales for every draw is allocated to the prize fund. This money is then split between the different prize divisions according to the percentages in the table. This is known as a ‘pari-mutuel’ prize structure and means that the individual dividends may change from draw to draw. The average prize value in the table is calculated from all previous Oz Lotto draws.

The Division 1 prize starts at a minimum of $3 million. If it not won in a given draw it “jackpots” and carries over to the following draw, in which it will increase in value.

The jackpot can go without being won for a maximum of 25 consecutive draws. If there are no tickets that match all the numbers in the 26th draw, the jackpot money is added to the Division 2 prize fund and is distributed evenly between players in this category. However, the jackpot is won so regularly that this rule has never needed to be applied.

If you win an Oz Lotto prize you can find out how to redeem it on the How to Claim page.
